• Purpose: Support neutering, feeding & medical care for Ios’ stray cats

A Tradition of Kindness

In 2024, we launched our very first Walk a Mile for a Stray… a small idea that quickly grew into a meaningful community tradition.

Thanks to your incredible support over the past two years, we’ve raised over €12,500 (including matched donations from the Calilo Foundation), helping provide safe neutering and essential veterinary care for dozens of stray cats on Ios while supporting our year-round animal welfare program.

Three years in, one mission remains the same: to give every stray cat on Ios the chance to live a healthier life!

Neutering is the Key to Change

Neutering is not just a numbers solution — it’s an act of compassion. It:

• Prevents suffering by breaking the uncontrolled breeding cycle
• Improves colony health by reducing the spread of disease
• Creates stability in cat populations, lowering aggression and stress
• Allows for better care of the cats who remain

A Year-Round Commitment

The Walk a Mile for a Stray event is more than just a fundraiser — it’s a public show of love, support, and action.

Your walk — and your donation — means:

• A kitten gets vaccinated
• A mother cat is spared another painful pregnancy
• Local volunteers get the food they need to care for a colony
• A sick or injured cat receives vet care in time
